Children’s Feet

Parents are often concerned about their children’s feet as they start to walk and grow.  Common problems such as flat feet, heel pain, knee pain, intoeing or frequent tripping may be developmental and naturally resolve. Some, if left untreated, can lead to more serious problems. However, your HCPC registered podiatrist is here to work with you to provide reassurance, decide when an intervention is indicated to reduce symptoms or to advise you when an onward referral to a paediatrician is needed.

Conditions affecting children’s feet that may benefit from a paediatric assessment:

  • Growing pains
  • Abnormal wear on shoes
  • Flat feet
  • Intoeing
  • Tip toe walking
  • Hypermobility
  • Heel pain
  • Knee pain

An individualised treatment plan specific to your child’s condition with will be put together and the various treatment options discussed. Treatments may include stretching and strengthening exercises, footwear advice, orthotic therapy or an onward referral
